Atari Jaguar

A game console made in 1993. The Jaguar was announced as the first 64-bit game system, so (AVGN reference in 3, 2, 1) everyone was all like, "Duuuuude, 64!? That's, like, 4 times the bits!" However, despite its "aggressive appearance" which made it look like a dentist's tool, the few people who did buy the Jaguar found out that it really didn't have much to offer in comparison with other consoles at the time. The games were okay, there were a few good ones and some bad ones. The graphics weren't too good for 64 bit. In fact, Star Fox came out the same year as the Jaguar, and the graphics on that game were just as good as, if not better than, that of the Jaguar. The controllers were essentially just SEGA Genesis controllers with a numeric keypad slapped on it. But what really killed the Jaguar for me was the advertising campaign. Back in the early 90's, the infamous trend known as the Console Wars was started, as gamers only began to care about the number of bits in a game system. So the Jaguar came in and said, "Hey, look at me! I'm 64 bit!" The advertisements for it depicted people who didn't use it, which there were a lot of, by the way, as morons. It's a style of advertisement that's still used today. Needless to say, it flopped, and it was the final nail in Atari's coffin. Don't get me wrong, E.T. was a critical hit in Atari's reputation, but the Jaguar was the finishing blow. Enjoy the papercraft!
