A console that needs no introduction, the Nintendo Wii. Released in late 2006, the Wii was meant to compete with the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3. Needless to say, it did. It sold over 101 million units worldwide, and even broke the sales record in the United States in December 2009. One thing that made it stand out from other consoles at the time, was that it had a remote controller, the Wiimote, which was commonly used as a pointing device that detected movement in in three dimensions.
